Water Wagon

There was a rodeo at Gottfriedson's
when I was just a lad.
I asked old Gus about my draw.
He said, "She ain't that bad."
Her name was Water Wagon
which sure seemed strange to me.
When I asked old Gus about that name,
he just smiled and said, "You'll see!"
I measured up my bronc rein
and climbed aboard the bay.
When the gate flew open,
she began to buck and spray!
To say the least it was distractin'
and didn't smell that good.
So I didn't really lift and charge
the way a cowboy should.
Now, I've been bucked off lots of times
so that part didn't hurt.
At least not as much as what happened next
as I lay there in the dirt.
"Did you figure that name out yet?"
I heard Gus shout with glee
as old Water Wagon rolled on by
and peed all over me!
