Family Tree

Horsemen through the ages
have graced my family line
as far back as one can see
through the shifting sands of time.

Calvary men and teamsters,
on both my parents side.
Equestrians of every type
have been our family's pride.

They've herded sheep and cattle,
on the mountains and the plains,
and as time went by
each in turn has handed on the reins.

True, a few men from our family,
have worked at city trades.
But as a matter of consensus,
they's just renegades!

Through the life of ranch and rodeo,
the tradition's still alive.
And any time I have a choice,
I'd sooner ride then drive.

The point I'm trying to make,
and will before I quit,
is, if you're going to draw my family tree,
best tie a horse to it.
